Verity Brown

- Founder of The Mermaid Project, Linguist and Scientific Imagineer.

"Hello. My name is Verity, I am 20 years old and I am the founder and I have volunteered as the ambassador on behalf of Mermaid kind.

I can speak English, French and Arabic, and I am currently learning Swedish and Japanese. As a student of vocal coaching and voice for several years, as well as having written three novels with two more on the way, I consider myself an expert in languages, both in body language and vocally.
I love all animals of the Earth and someday hope that all animals will be treated as kindly as humans treat their own family, and perhaps more. I mean, we fight with each other and war every day - someday this will all end.
I think that people are happy to believe what they want to believe, but always thinking the world is the same as you go to sleep is much more comforting than not doing as you're told, and finding out the real truth for yourself.
It's easy to dismiss things as hoaxes, but as an avid biologist and scuba diver, this 'mystery' particularly interests me. What with all the sightings being of the same type of creature, it's pretty difficult to dismiss, even if someone did tell Animal Planet to be quiet and hush it all up."
A 'Scientific Imagineer' is that person who says: Well a mermaid wouldn't be half human, half fish, because it's not biologically possible to be in two classes of at once. (Class = whether it's a fish, mammal, bird, etc.) It means thinking realistically about the unlikely.
